FRB 50th Birthday Party & Torchlight Procession

This unique and spectacular event will see fireworks and thousands of torches light up the Forth Road Bridge on the evening of Saturday 13 September, celebrating 50 years since the bridge opened and forming the finale to the Forth Bridges Festival as well as a signature event in the Year of Homecoming Scotland 2014. 2,014 torch-bearers will form a kilometre-long river of fire across the bridge to Fife before returning to a giant ‘Bridge Party’ in South Queensferry. read more »

Zero to Fifty: The Road Bridge Diaries

To mark the 50th birthday of the Forth Road Bridge, renowned Scottish landscape artist, Kate Downie has been appointed as Artist in Residence by the Forth Estuary Transport Authority (FETA). Kate, a member of the Royal Scottish Academy, brings longstanding expertise of creating bridge-inspired artworks, including a previous residency at the Forth Bridge and capturing the Yangtze River Bridge in ink on a recent visit to China. read more »

Boat Flotilla Entry

With plans well underway for the Boat Flotilla on 7th September we are now calling for water and boating enthusiasts to join us. The Flotilla promises an unforgettable way to journey the Firth of Forth welcomed by spectators and photographers keen to capture the occasion. The Firth of Forth will be decorated with vessels of all kinds, including Navy ships, tug boats, yachts and even ‘Reaper’, the famous restored Fifie herring drifter museum ship. read more »
